First National Credit Card, CCS, CCA …the ultimate credit card scam?
It seems that this supposed credit card company out of Vegas is making a nightmare for unsuspecting consumers. Here’s the scoop.
Across the internet, people are making complaints that a company by various names such as CCA, CCS, and First National Credit because they are receiving unsolicited cards in their names. Upon recieving the card, the user attempts to contact the company to cancel or opt-out of the card. When calling the phone number listed with the card, the person is directed to enter the credit card number and is then asked to verify some information such as SSN, bank info, etc. Upon giving their information, the victim is inadvertently activating the account.
According to the New York State Consumer Protection Board:
“*In addition to the $199 “activation” fee, consumers have also been charged $99 for an annual renewal fee, $99 a year for a “credit protection shield,” and another $99 annually for a “purchase security guard.”"
When attempting to cancel the card, multiple victims have been disconnected without explanation or recourse.
It gets better. The card is not actually used for normal credit card use. Upon reading the fine print, you can see the following:
“Since your new card is not a general credit card and is authorized for CCA catalog purchases exclusively, you’re already approved for over 5,000 products to purchase from…”
The list goes on and on of being reporting as a growing problem. One website, http://www.ripoffreport.com/, has the following suggestion if you’re get into this scam:
Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don’t delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: “we could not do anything for you” or “you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days”.If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it’s their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you’re at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!
Do not take no for an answer!
Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth. If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.
Charges to your credit card
If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won’t contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.
Remember… Don’t let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.
Bottom line: When receiving any type of unsolicited email, snail mail, etc., ALWAYS be vigilant in giving out information to someone you do not know. Here’s you links to do the research yourself:

Not to mention the fact that there is no catalog to look through for “their” products. I must admit it is one of the best put together scams I have seen in years..it is glitzy and shiny..and the 6,500 dolar limit is attractive, and pretty reasonable ..if I had a credit score that did not match my shoe size. I am forever impressed bythe lengths people will go to get my money..even though I have very little.
I have just recently got activated by this so-called cca company on the 29th and have to feb 07 to cancel and i was skeptical so i went to see if i could get something off the catalog on the internet and i ended up seeing this scam alert i am cancelling and reporting all claims to my bank immediately. If anything is to go any further my mother is a lawyer and i ill find and spend every dime i have to sue them their kids and their grandkids for everything they own.
if you activate or bill my bank i will have my father who is a lawer take you in to court and sue you for way more then the preapprovel amount
These people are going down!
I do in fact have to give these people some credit for their ability to make this scam work and keep working. It is unfortunate however, that the people they are “screwing” with are not going to very nice in getting “even”. I do love how they give each customer a name, find you… First and Last name to right down if there are any question that would later down the road need to be answered.
I truly do give these people credit for scamming the wrong person! I hope that those that were scammed have not been hurt to badly, it is a crime and a felony what they are doing. My blessings.
i want to order from your catalog with my caerd
If anyone is gullible to fall for this scam, please contact me. I have a very nice, large canyon in Northern Arizona for sale (cheap). A river even runs through it.
I really hope that you have had your fun ripping off people that work hard for a living. My message to you is that I have reported your ass to ic3.gov. In case you do not know that’s the FBI web site.
Bite me!!!!
Pleople like this go down easily. Do your part ic3.gov.
People, I recently went to the bank to cancel my account but first I looked into my online account with the bank and to my surprise I saw that First National Card had refunded the money. When I told the lady at the bank why I was cancelling the account she access my account on her computer and the money that they had taking away was not credited back like my computer showed. The bank refunded the money, the over drafts fees and opened and investigation with the FBI at the web page I provided above.

Well you low-life jackasses, thanks to your unconscionable GREED you sent your ‘preapproved’ card to my brother who is intellectually challenged. He unfortunately called the phone number to activate the card and gave you jerks his bank account information. You’ve then managed to hit his account THREE times in excess of $99 for nothing that he’d purchased, but only for your so-called ’services’. Now his account has insufficient funds and you’ve been hitting it three times daily for the past week!!!. His bank has charged him THIRTEEN NSF fees of $25 each for every time you’ve attempted a withdrawl. Because of his overdraft protection, the bank has deducted the NSF fees from his small savings account!!! Luckily one of the bank tellers who is a family friend personally called to alert us to this.
I hope you rest easy tonight in knowing that when you BURN IN HELL, the fires are gonna be especially HOT for you and your sorry-ass cohorts!!!
As one of the other folks who’ve complained put it…BITE ME! As for my brother, it seems you’ve already done the biting!! COUNT on me getting to the bottom of this SCAM!!

I can’t believe they are still getting away with this! I went through a total nightmare with this company draining my bank acount constantly when I had purchsed nothing.I got so obsessed trying to reach them that I left my phone on speaker,on hold days weeks months. They led me to believe this was a regular credit card. When they sent me their catalog I immediatly returned it and coupons and asked for a refund.Once using my endless calling I got someone on the phone who said all charges are non refundable. That didnt stop them from taking more money.ended up hundreds of dollars 4 to 6 out got nothing and had to close my account

As I read through your comments I just want to cry I activated the card, promptly got up the next morning and canceled my activation, got a bogus conf.# but not until being on “hold” for half an hour and listening to them all hollering and laughing in the background, it was creepy, I felt like they were just messing with me. Sickening. I gave them my social, my checking acct.# everything,I feel so freaked out but also very ashamed but I know it happens to the best and most intelligent of us, I’m so sorry it happened to any of you. My heart goes out to us all. I’m a parent also, a single Mom struggling and in school.I have closed my account and put out a fraud alert on everything I am also going to call social security and alert them that my # is out there in the hands of these creeps. I am on hyper alert mode and it stinks, I hate these guys. My prayers are for us all.. lots and lots of prayers. Colby in Hawaii
There’s a website that might be able to help people out with this kind of BS in the future. It’s sort of like the do-not-call list for credit card scams. Go to this link - the only info that’s actually required it your name and mailing address. Once you sign up, they will remove you from any lists that will cause you to get these pre-approved bogus credit cards. The site is
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/
I too received their “offer” but did not call to activate. I looked for some information regarding this company and it turns out they were sued by the FTC in 2001 ( http://www.ftc.gov/os/2001/07/capitalcardservicesstip.htm ). I suggest reading the judgement just for extra information on them.
This is so horrible! The cca first national card has really screwed us! We got this card yesterday and we activated then also! Not even 24 hours later we are trying to stop it! I am sick and have been in and out of the hospital so only my husband works and we 2 small kids! We thought that this would be great since it is so close to christmas! Where or what do I do to make a claim for credit card scam? This has really been horrible! I have recently been told by my doctor that I have 5 years at the most left! This is awful that the cca first national card has done this to us! We have enough to deal with at the moment to be dealing with a credit card scam! If anyone knows what I can do to get out of this PLEASE email me!!!!
ssrosetwo@yahoo.com
i’d like to ask everyone who recieved this CCS First national card, did you recieve this card after trying to get PayPal Plus credit card? from your PayPals account?
No, we got it in the mail, not applying for a paypal account….
I got this letter in the mail saying I was approved and called to see what the limit was. They said $7600.00 which I thought was great. So I gave them my info. They asked for my bank account information, which if a credit card company ever asks for that, something is wrong. Luckily, I didn’t give them my social security number. I also tried to go on the website,,,,even called back to see if they could tell me what it was and the guy kept avoiding the question. Lol
I cancelled my bank account the next morning and caught it in time.
I also reported it to the FBI and the local news broadcasts.
What can I say?…..if any of the employees are reading this, I hope you know what they do to you in prison, hope you like the anal rape thing…..
I work as a transcriber and recently did some transcription FOR the company. After hearing the first two, I was amazed at what they were doing. It was clear to me from the beginning it was a scam, but can clearly see how they “got” people. One thing that I noticed with what I was doing was EVERYONE was with BofA. I’m sure that is not entirely the case for their company, but perhaps BofA customers went after them and they are trying to protect themselves.
One thing’s for sure, with one file that I listened to, their “reps” are relentless when trying to “activate” or calling to see what’s going on and how they got your information. but there are two levels.
The first level of cust. service rep just tries to get your info and if the “customer” isn’t compliant the cust. service rep says, and I quote “wait a minute, I have a great idea” and then suddenly they bring in the salesperson (second level) who is even more relentless to get your bank account info before they continue.
From what I can gather from listening to these calls, although they are correct in stating that they do not directly take anything out of your account and they are only charging fees to your “credit card”, what the customers fail to realize is that this credit card or cash on demand card is basically a shell. Anything charged on their credit card is immediately debited (via the “convenience” of auto payment) to your bank account.
It is very sad. The two numbers they offer to “cancel” are:
1-800-642-1760
1-800-279-6989
They are apparently “available” M-F 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Good luck if they’ve got you, and hurry to cancel BEFORE you get your “cards”.
These people really do SUCK. What they have done to everyone is terrible, and i dont know how they sleep at night. I got a CCS credit card when I turned 18, i did NOT give them a credit card number as I assured them I would call back with one. of course i didnt. about a year later I had my credit pulled and the card was on my report. It had never been used, but since activated with my social security number IT WAS BUILDING ME CREDIT. so i was advised to leave it on there. I did. Last year I purchased my first Car, and being young, i didnt have much for credit, but having a 6500.00 limit on a card and never paying late (since they couldnt scam my money and the card was never used) really helped. For some reason I received another card, and did the same thing, now I am using 2 of their accounts to build my credit! I am not saying this will work for everyone, DO NOT GIVE OUT bank ACCOUNT NUMBERS.. credit card companies DO NOT require this, and no one can take your money from the bank with out it! I like to feel like maybe I scored a point or two for the little guy, the one whos always getting F#$. If you check your credit report after you have been scamed and see this card has negatively affected your report in anyway, all three bureaus are usually very helpful if you write them a letter, and should have anything removed. Look on line for their addresses.
If any one would like to e-mail me, I do work in accounting and finance field, and have some basic letters I could forward to you for use in contacting the credit bureaus. You can fill in your own personal information.

Well, I am quite suprised at some of these comments. I ahve had a Legacy Visa card for 6 years now and have had no problems. My card is usually paid off by the end of the billing cycle and I receive NO inteest charges, my credit limit has been increased every year and any item that I have disputed has been removed. In addition they provide continous security monitoring and have found several attempts of unauthorized credit usage at which time they removed the charges and issued me a new card immediately. Just thought I would share that with you folks.
